The Richards Trophy and Cresswell Cup matches were played at Hororata yesterday in cool, sunny conditions and the course in great order.
The Richards Trophy match was between Harewood (Winner of Metropolitan A) and Amberley Red (Winner of Templeton Cup) with the Amberley Red team of Shaun Heslop, Steve Thomas, Karl Rattray, Rowan Turnbull, Glen Smith, Dean Walker, Mark Neale and Graham Demmocks defeating Harewood's Ramon Coleman, Terry Coleman, Barry Coleman, Guy Chambers, Colin Posa, Peter Coleman, John Hamilton and Marcus Wyatt 7-1 at the end of some very close matches, with five of the eight matches decided on the 17th and 18th holes.
The Cresswell Cup between Russley (Winner of Metropolitan B) and Weedons Red (Winner of Patterson Cup) also had it's share of closely fought matches before Weedon's, from left Darryl Campbell, Dave Butts, David White, Richard Poulsen, Tim O’Connell, Glenn Hames, Dave Stubbs and Terry Sullivan triumphed, making it it three consecutive Cresswell Cup successes, defeating Russley’s Bob Grace, Scott Dew, Guy Armstrong, Grant Morris, Michael Im, David Kim, Andrew Hay and Neil Wilby 4.5-3.5
