Canterbury Golf General Manager Grant Lewis took the opportunity to visit the offices of VFL Flexillease this week and present owner Garry Donnithorne with a copy of the recently published "History of Golf in New Zealand" with a special inscription on the inside cover recognising the long time contribution of the company to Canterbury Golf.
VFL Flexiliease has been with Canterbury Golf since the mid 2000's when lease agent Richard Deighton started a sponsored vehicle leasing relationship with then GM Doug McSweeney. The support was extended later on when the company began sponsorship of women's representative golf programme. The relationship continues...

A cool blustery day greeted players for round four of the 2022 Woodward Cup at Russley Golf Club, and there were some interesting results.
When Pegasus and Templeton last met it was in the 2021 Final and it was a very close result. Their match on Sunday was no different with a tense 4-4 draw, that came down to the last group in the match, with Shaun Allan halving his game against Dan Laughton in unfortunate circumstances after holding a 1up lead playing the last. Dean Harvey, Phil Stephens, and Ian Blount all won for Pegasus, while Marcus Mariu halved with...

Cheviot and Scargill both went into the last round at the top of the table tied on 13 games, but with hosts Scargill having the bye the title was Cheviot's to lose and they played fifth placed Culverden. With three wins from three matches Clearwater and Templeton lead the 2022 Woodward Cup. Avondale are also unbeaten but drew with Russley in round two.
The early rounds have shown some very lopsided results and given a good indication of potential semi-finalists. As well as Clearwater, Templeton, and Avondale; Pegasus, Russley, and Waitkiri have a clear headstart in the race for semi-final spots.
At the other end of the ladder Christchurch and Weedons are yet to register a win, and Harewood has got one point from a draw with Waitikiri. The 0-3 record for Christchurch is a particular shock, given the club's...
