Avondale Win Promotion to 2020 Woodward Cup

The 2019 Woodward Cup Promotion / Relegation Match was played at Harewood Golf Course yesterday in warm, windy conditions with the Woodlands Course in superb order.  Coringa, fighting to retain their status in Woodward Cup and Avondale earning the right to challenge for a place in next year's competition, after winning this year's Blank Cup, were matched against each other after both the winners of the Canterbury North Kaikoura Cup and Canterbury Central Shield declined the offer to compete. Canterbury Women Finish 6th at NZ Interprovincials

IMG 2542 The Flexi Lease Canterbury Women's Team showed they are amongst the top teams in New Zealand again this year. The team headed into the 2019 NZ Women's Interprovincial with four players from last year's line-up along with two players also on debut. Former Canterbury No.1 Juliana Hung recently joined the professional ranks while Catherine Bell was a late withdrawal from the team. This opened the door for Melissa Newburn to move into the playing line-up with 14 year old Jasmine Clancy gaining the valuable experience of travelling with the team in the reserve position. Pres.Sec Day 2019 Pres. Winner Mike Cross LR3 The Annual Presidents and Secretaries Day was held at Russley Golf Club on Friday with the course in great condition, providing plenty of challenges for players.    12 current and past Presidents competed for the G.W.A Green Presidents Cup this year with Kaiapoi's President Mike Cross winning the Presidents Cup with 34 stableford points from Tai Tapu's John Bowden on 33 points who was runner-up on countback from Russley's Chris Le Cren. Canterbury Men Finish Sixth at NZ Interprovincial

News Story Preview2 The Canterbury Men’s Team have finished sixth at the NZ Interprovincial. The team got off to the start that was needed with a 3-2 win over Bay of Plenty following their first round bye. On day two the team were unlucky not to come away with two wins against North Harbour and Hawkes Bay but continued their unbeaten record halving both matches. Women's Ringers Tournament

Womens Ringers Tournament Winners 2019 Tai Tapu LR The Women's Ringers Tournament sponsored by CRYSTALP Jewellery was played at Weedons Country Club yesterday in fine warm weather and the course in great order. In the 18 Hole Competition Tai Tapu's Di Stalker and Carol Bates (pictured right), were too strong with 81 stableford points winning by seven points from Ellesmere's Heather McKimmie and Tracey Houston on 74 points with Harewood's Hyeza Kim and Marguerite Leitch third on 71 points.
