Junior Golfers Enjoy School Holiday Event

Canterbury Junior Tournament Russley A field of 46 players participated in the Canterbury Junior Tournament held at the Russley Golf Club. In the 9 hole section this included 11 young golfers playing from the newly installed purple course. "Over ten golf courses in Canterbury have now installed the purple course which is approriate to the players ability" said Canterbury Golf Development Manager Rachel Thow. "Clubs are also utilising the purple course for fun social events and adult players that are newer to the game to play from". Canterbury Win Men's Masters South Island Interprovincial

Canterbury Mens Masters SIIP Team Cropped2 The Canterbury Men's Masters Team have won the South Island Interprovincial title in a closely fought battle between the five districts. The Timaru Golf Club hosted the South Island fixture, providing a great opportunity for the South Island districts to play competitive rounds ahead of the NZ Men's Freyberg that will also be played at the same venue in November. The weather proved very challenging on the Saturday with rain and cold southerly winds. The players battled the conditions and managed to complete all four rounds. The new Christchurch edition to the Jennian Homes Charles Tour begins after seven successful years at Harewood. Pegasus are taking over the reins with DVS coming onboard as the headline sponsor in association with NewstalkZB. Woodward CupRound 6 The first double-header round was completed at Christchurch Golf Club yesterday in hot and blustery nor-west conditions. There was a minor upset when seventh placed Pegasus comprehensively beat frontrunners Christchurch 5.5-2.5. Wins to Peter Brinsdon, James Cadenhead, Andrew Green, Zach May, Rodney Van Steenis, and a half to Mike Taylor sealed the victory. Charteris Bay Retain Boyle Cup for 2019

Boyle Cup 2019 Charteris Bay LR Charteris Bay played their final Boyle Cup Challenge for 2019 against Greendale yesterday in warm sunny conditions, finishing the season on a high with a 5-0 win.  Other successful challenges this year were against Harewood 4-1, Avondale 3.5-1.5, Amberley 5-0, Everglades 5-0 and Hanmer Springs, winning by default. The Charteris Bay ladies have now held the Boyle Cup since April 2018, when ironically they defeated yesterday's opposition Greendale, and have since defended the trophy eleven times on their home course. The trophy can now safely be displayed in the club's trophy cabinet until April next year when they will accept six new challenges...

Canterbury vs Aorangi Womens Team 2019 LR The annual Cantebury vs Aorangi Represenative fixture was played at Ashburton Golf Club yesterday in fine, cool conditions with course in great order. The Canterbury Women were dominant in their morning reverse singles winning 6-2 and continued to press home their advantage in the afternoon singles to again win 6-2 and 12-4 overall to retain the Templar Trophy. Canterbury Players Selected to represent NZ at The Spirit International

Matt McLean Muriwai Open New Zealand Golf have named a team to compete in The Spirit International held at Whispering Pines Golf Club in Texas later this year. Matt McLean (Harewood), Tyler Wood (Palmerston North), Wenyung Keh (Pakuranga), and Momoka Kobori (Rangiora) make up the four-person squad who represent New Zealand at this championship for the first time since 2007. New Zealand earned an invitation to this event through our fourth-place finish at the Eisenhower Trophy, and our 19th place finish at the Espirito Santo Trophy last year. Woodward & Pollock Cups - Round 5

Round five of the Woodward and Pollock Cups were held yesterday at Harewood and Russley respectively in sunny, cool conditions but a bit damp underfoot after early morning rain. Woodward Cup Unbeaten Harewood had the home advantage against Russley but the current champions got into their work quickly with Hayato Miya and Regan Kilpatrick having big wins at the top of the order, while Hamish Kerr, Michael McAuley, Owen Burgess, Jacob Roberts and Andrew Dufton finished the job to win decisively 7-1 with Matt McLean registering Harewood's sole win.
