Canterbury Women's Masters Team Named

Women’s Amateur Asia-Pacific Championship

Womens Asia Pacific Championship The inaugural Women’s Amateur Asia-Pacific Championship tees off at the Sentosa Golf Club, Singapore this week with a squad of six amateurs travelling to Singapore to represent New Zealand from 21-24 February.  New Zealand received six player invitations into the championship with Wenyung Keh, Amelia Garvey, Juliana Hung, Britney Dryland, Rose Zheng and Caryn Khoo all securing their place based on World Amateur Golf Rankings and availability.  For Garvey and Hung this is an fantastic opportunity to build on their international experience playing on a world class championship course.  Garvey has just moved to America to begin her golf scholarship at the...

Amelia Garvey selected to represent Sir Nick Faldo in Major Champions Invitational

Amelia Toro 2016 LR Sir Nick Faldo has announced he'll be running a new event on the calendar, the inaugural Major Champions Invitational to be played March 12-14, 2018 at Bella Collina in Montverde, Florida. The Major Champions Invitational is a one-of-a-kind junior golf tournament created by World Golf Hall of Fame member and six-time major champion Sir Nick Faldo.  An extension of the Faldo Series, the Major Champions Invitational will embody the same overall mission; to give opportunities to young people through golf, and help identify the next generation of champions. “I’m incredibly excited about hosting the Major Champions Invitational, and about the players who...

Playoff for McLean at Grant Clements Memorial

Matt McLean A play-off was needed to decide the winner of the Grant Clements Memorial Tournament played at the Mount Maunganui Golf Club with Canadian national representative player Joey Savoie and Harewood's Matt McLean finishing tied on seven under par after 72 holes of stroke play.  With both having wayward drives down the 18th hole, used for the playoff, it set up tough approach shots to the green. Captains Day Tournament

Canterbury Golf’s Captains Day was played at Waimairi Beach on Friday with 21 clubs represented from around the Canterbury Region. The course was in excellent order and the hot weather and strong north west winds made conditions challenging for most golfers. Waimakariri Gorges’s Club Captains Jill Blatch & Reg Riki won the Captain’s Trophy with 67 stableford points. Amelia Tom Vert The Nexia New Zealand Canterbury Sports Awards iconic celebration of sporting achievement honours our region's outstanding athletes, coaches, officials and administrators.  This year Canterbury Golf nominated Amelia Garvey for Junior Sportswomen of the Year, Tom Parker for Junior Sportsman of the Year and the Canterbury U19 Team for the Junior Team of the Year. Canterbury Players Named for NZ Golf Travelling Squad

It's great to see that three Canterbury players have been selected to be part of the NZ Golf Travelling Squad for the Australian Girls and Boys Amateur. The Australian Junior Girls and Boys Amateur is being played the 11th to the 13th April in Perth. The girls play Royal Perth, and the boys Gosnells Golf Club. Kobori Wins House of Travel Tour

Kazuma Kobori Bunker Kazuma Kobori (Rangiora) showed consistent form through the House of Travel Tour to earn the top position not only with the best aggregate score over the nine rounds but also convincingly winning the Southland Stroke Play title by six shots from Southland's Liam Balneaves.  This year has seen the House of Travel Tour enhanced to include the Southland Stroke Play after the new  initiative started in 2017 with the Canterbury Stroke Play and Otago Stroke Play.  The three districts have financially supported the Tour along with sponsorship from the House of Travel to be able to provide travel vouchers for the top...
