She Loves Golf Launched in Canterbury

Mother and daughter SLG Cropped She Loves Golf was successfully launched with Canterbury with over 80 women participating in the event.  Riccarton Park Golf Complex were a fantastic host venue providing great facilities with the covered driving range, thousands of golf balls were hit with plenty of smiles.  The women were treated to some awesome samples from Tasty Pot Co and goodie bags from LOVE Golf along with their own She Loves Golf t-shirts.  Members of the Canterbury Golf Women's team was also on hand to provide some tips along with the women's committee and along with professional Kerryn Starr.   "We are grateful for the support provided along with...

Top Performances at NZ U19 Championships

Local amateur Mako Thompson has won the 2017 New Zealand Age Group Championship with a clinical birdie, birdie finish at his secondary course, the Hastings Golf Club.  With one hole to play, he was tied with Hiroki Miya before making the decisive birdie to be crowned the under 19 champion.   This historic stroke play event was first played in 1962 and Thompson now joins some great names on the trophy. Christchurch Boys High Win NZ Secondary Schools

NZ Secondary Schools CBHS Christchurch Boys High School (CBHS) have won the Nomads New Zealand Secondary Schools Championship for the first time this afternoon, with a clinical final round at the Hawkes Bay Golf Club.  The CBHS team of Tom Parker, Ben Baker, Dominic Brettkelly and Jack Ryder won by a dominant eight strokes over defending champions Burnside High School after Parker and Baker recorded impressive afternoon rounds of 66 and 67 respectively (par 73).  CBHS led by one shot after the first round before the pair of Parker and Baker went bogey free in the second round to widen the gap on the...

Canterbury 9 Hole Tournament 2017 Winner The Canterbury 9 hole tournament attracted a field of both men and women from various clubs in Canterbury.  Players enjoyed the spring conditions at the Kaiapoi Golf Club. The overall winner was John Evans from Amberley will 22 stablefords for the 9 hole event.  John Evans is pictured receiving the photo from Canterbury Women's Committee member Dorothy Hughes. McGuire Hendon Cup Winners 2017 Burnham LR The Ashby Bergh Trophy and McGuire Hendon Cup were played in great spirit at the Amberley Golf Club on Sunday in fine but cool conditions after the recent snowfall, which necessitated the transfer of venue from Waimakariri Gorge. At very short notice, hosts Amberley Golf Club had the course in excellent order and looked after everyone in their customary fashion very well.  The Ashby Bergh Trophy between the winner of Canterbury Central Patterson Cup, Weedons Red and the winner of the Canterbury North Templeton Cup, Kaiapoi Blue was a very tight affair with two matches going to the 18th before the Weedons...

Richards Trophy Winners 2017 Kaiapoi Blue LR The Richards Trophy and Cresswell Cup annual fixtures were played at Ellesmere Golf club yesterday in overcast, cool winter conditions with the course in great order. The Richards Trophy was played between the winner of Metropolitan A, Waimairi Beach and the Winner of the Templeton Cup, Kaiapoi Blue. 2017 4BBB Champions small The Riccarton Park Golf Complex Canterbury 4BBB Championship was played yesterday at Templeton Golf Club in fine winter conditions. Whilst a bit heavy under foot, the course was in great condition which was reflected in the scoring. The men's championship was won by the Harewood pairing of Matt McLean and Robert Gregory with 65. They beat Nic Kay & Nick Franzmann from Coringa by a shot, and the Russley pairing of Reid Hilton & Connell Kilpatrick who also had 66.. Wintery Conditions at Men's Champion of Champions

Mens Champion of Champions Winners 2017 Waitikiri LR A field of 78 braved bitterly cold, rainy weather conditions at the 2017 Men’s Champion of Champions Tournament played at Harewood Golf Club yesterday. With the course in excellent condition Waitikiri’s Trevor Wilson, Tony Thomas and Paul McEwan, pictured left, took out the Team’s Gross Stableford with 69 points from Bottle Lake’s Joel Sherwood, Lyall Grant and Gordon Laurie on 67. The Team’s Net Stableford was won by the home club Harewood’s Blair Dibley, Ray Coleman and Les Keys on 96 points by countback from Hororata’s  Al Sime, Steven Stewart and Gavin Baker.   The Senior Grade Individual Gross was won by Andrew Green...
