The Canterbury North Men's Interclub Finals Day were held at Pegasus on Sunday with the home club having a big say in proceedings.
The Kaikoura Cup semi finals saw Pegasus 1 defeat Kaiapoi 4.5-1.5 while Rangiora Green accounted for Amuri 5.5-.5 to advance to the afternoon Final. The Pegasus 1 team of, from left Mike Taylor, James Loveday, Richard Sinclair, Phil Stephens, Martyn Price and Andrew Green proved too strong for a gallant Rangiora Green team of Jeremy Goodman, Tim Chambers, Matt Burns, Carl Lomas, Alistair Reid and Kevin Jones winning 4-2.
The Gardiner Trophy Final between top qualifier Rangiora White and Pegasus2 was also a hard fought affair with Rangiora's Marcus Mariu, Sam Kennedy, Bradley Wilcock, Ricky Walker, Mike Clapham and Mark Graham defeating Pegasus' Ian MacGillivray, Nathan Ambler, Matt Herd, Sam Manson, Rhys Jamieson and Caleb Morgan 3.5-2.5.
The Templeton Cup morning semi finals matched mate against mate in the Amberley Red versus Amberley Gold match with Amberley Gold coming out victors 3.5-2.5. The other semi final saw Pegasus Red defeat Scargill 5-1.
The Pegasus Red team of, from left Peter Doak, Richard Nortje, Dan Dwyer, Gary May and Jason Gwatkin. Absent: Daryl Hansen had a real battle on their hands against the Amberley Gold side of Greg Mills, Steve Hartley, Roger Hornblow, Brian Fitzgerald, Hayden Kent and Aaron Eddy with four of the six matches going down to the final couple of holes before eventually winning 5.5-.5
Needless to say it was an evening of celebrations at the Pegasus Bunker last night.
