Kaikoura Golf Club hosted the annual Marlborough vs Canterbury North representative fixture on Sunday in fine, cool conditions.
Honours were shared in the morning foursomes with the Senior team pairings of Matt Adam / Austin Hamilton and Oscar Cadenhead / Ryan Adams winning their foursome matches 6/4 and 3/2 respectively with Tim Chambers / Jamie Mead and Andrew Green / Richard Sinclair being defeated 4/3 and 3/1 respectively. The afternoon senior singles belonged to Canterbury North with wins to Mead 1 up, Sinclair 3/2, Matt Adam 7/6, Oscar Cadenhead 1 up, courtesy of a 360 degree lap of honour putt on the final hole and Ryan Adams halving for a 6.5-5.5 winning margin.
The Canterbury North Masters team won their morning foursomes 2-1 with Mike Taylor / Peter McAllister winning 3/2 while Marcus Mariu / Jason Sincock won 2 up. Richard Belcher / Jeremy Goodman were defeated 5/4. The afternoon singles were all Canterbury North with wins to McAllister 4/2, Taylor 3/1, Mariu 5/4, Belcher 4/3, Goodman 4/3 with Sincock losing a tight match at the 18th for a commanding 7-2 victory.
The Canterbury North Juniors lost their morning foursomes 1.5-.5 with Taylor Willis / Tom McLorinan halving their match and Dallas Wilson / Mitchell Berry being defeated 3/2. The afternoon singles were also close affairs with wins to Wilson 4/3, Willis 1 up, Berry halving and McLorinan being defeated 2/1 to square the fixture 3-3.
The Canterbury North Intermediates won their foursomes 2.5-1.5 with team pairings Tim Dunbar / Bruce Hutchison and Jamie Joseph / Leigh Adams winning 3/2 and 2/1 respectively, while Ken McFarlane / Karl Rollinson halved and Paul Neilson / Mike Clapham were defeated 3/2. Marlborough were too strong in the afternoon singles with Hutchison recording the only win 6/4, Dunbar and Clapham halving and McFarlane, Rollinson, Neilson, Joseph and Adams losing their matches, Marlborough winning 7.5-4.5 overall.
