The Flexi Lease Canterbury Women's Team have started off with a strong performance at the Waitikiri Golf Club for the NZ Toro Women's Interprovincials. The team have had a successful three years, after winning in 2015 at the Ashburton Golf Club, the team finished third in 2016 and runners up in 2017. After a bye in round one the team got underway against Southland this afternoon and led from the front early in most of the matches. Amy Weng got out to an early 5 up led through the turn and secured the first win for the team 6/5 with the Canterbury Captain Catherine Bell finishing soon after with a birdie at the 14th hole. Olive Tapu got the team across the win for a team win 4/3 with No.1 Juliana Hung flighting back from 2 down against Robyn Pullar to finish with a birdie and win 4/2. The final match went the full distance with Hillary O'Connor in a tight tissle with Olivia Frost which finished all square after the 18th was halved in birdies.
The team play against Manawatu-Wanganui who are two from two tomorrow morning and then Taranaki in the afternoon.
