Canterbury Golf had a very successful weekend with both the Men's and Women's Team competing at their respective South Island Interprovincials.
The Flexi Lease Canterbury Women's Team played at the Russley Golf Club and looking for a strong performance ahead of the NZ Women's Interprovincials. The team of Hillary O'Connor, Juliana Hung, Catherine Bell, Jasmine Rou, Elisha Crosbie, Olive Tapu, Amy Weng and Kim Moggach put together a commanding performance to go through the event unbeaten with four wins and 26.5 individual games out of a possible 32. Canterbury players Juliana Hung, Olive Tapu and Kim Moggach and also Otago player Annabel Evans had perfect records, each winning their 4 matches.
The Fenix Canterbury Men's Team travelled to Dunedin to play their Interprovincial at the St Clair golf course. The lineup included Daniel Laughton, Tom Parker, Andrew Green, Matt McLean, Hiroki Miya, Reid Hilton, Jake Hallinan and Dominic Brettkelly along with Manager Murray Brown. On day one of competition Canterbury played against Otago and Tasman, Canterbury got the important win over Otago 4.5-3.5 games and also against Tasman 6-2 to be in a good position heading into the matches the following day against Southland and Aorangi. Conditions turned pretty rough in Dunedin on Sunday, competition for the cruical final two points was very tight, the Canterbury team played well to get the two needed wins over Aorangi and Southland to go unbeaten through the tournament and successfully defend the title the won in Westport in 2015.
