The third round of Pollock Cup was held yesterday in mostly fine but wintry weather on a very soggy Waitikiri course after the heavy overnight rain on Saturday.
Clearwater produced their best round of the season with a 4-0 victory over a strong lineup for Harewood. Amelia Garvey continued her impressive form with a 5/3 victory over Harewood's number one Catherine Knight. Rachel Eder, Lynda Vieceli and Di Kay all held on to produce vital 1 up wins for the Clearwater team to ensure the victory.
All four of the Russley team were unbeaten with Robyn Cruse and Maddi May both producing wins over Kawhena Rangihaeata and Bobbi Oliver 4/2 and 3/2 respectively. Juliana Hung and Hillary O'Connor had a tight battle finishing in a halved match along with Amy Weng and Karen de Lautour who has halved their match.
Christchurch's Catherine Bell played even par golf to beat Waitiki's Naomi Wallace 5/3 with Olive Tapu and Lina Park also producing wins for Christchurch to give them the 3-1 win over Waitikiri. Kim Moggach had a tight tussle with Melissa Newburn (Christchurch) posting a 2up win for Waitikiri.
Christchurch and Russley remain locked at the top of the table with five points and eight games with Waitikiri in third and Clearwater moving up to fourth place after their first win of the season.
