This year's trend of upset finals continued with Kaiapoi defeating Greendale 3 matches to 1 in the Women's Weekend final held at Christchurch on Sunday 21 May.
The day started cold and wintry but improved somewhat in the later stages of this match. Greendale's Dale Macdonald, Kath Adams, Janelle Lewis and Diane Gibbs came to the final having been undefeated in round robin play and the semi final. However the Kaiapoi team of from left, Janine Hosking, Suzanne Griffith, Michelle Anngow and Dedrie Trnjanin turned the tables on their more favoured opponents winning 3-1 with the scoreline not reflecting the closeness of the matches.
