The Finals of Men's Metro A & B Interclub competitions were held at McLeans Island Golf Club on Sunday in fine, sunny conditions and the course in great order.
The Metro A Final was as tight as finals golf gets. Avondale and Bottle Lake were unable to be separated at the end of the regulation 18 holes finishing 4-4. It took until the 4th play-off hole before Louis Edwards managed to secure the title of Metro A Champions for Avondale being the toast of his team from left, Andrew Falck, Hamish Ross, Craig Gault, Richard Blight, Louis Edwards, Glenn Edwards, Gary Holt, Steve Collier, and Sene Falealili with his very cute team's MVP Niah McCombie-Falealili.
An obviously disappointed Bottle Lake side of Simon Carey, Rob Mauheni, Lyall Grant, Noel Cheevers, Connor Williams, Mark Silcock, Kevin Williams and Gerald Williams but up a valiant effort, but just came up short this year.
The final scoreline of 6-2 in the Metro B Final didn't reflect the closeness of the matches, with two matches going to the 17th and two to the 18th. The game between Harewood and Avondale was a very tight affair before Harewood's team of, from left Kane Boulton, Dave Carroll, Dan Sullivan, Chris Straker, Mike Maynard, Charlie Su, Steve Thomas, Malcolm Cameron, Paul O'Neill, Glenn Bunting and Drew van Boxtel (Absent, Hamish Stewart, Baden Foster, Jordan Wilson, Alan Cowie, Les Keys, Tony Carroll) defeated a gallant Avondale team of Em Jones, Shannon Mason, Todd Mayo, Blair English, Ash Thomas, Jason Gibbons, David Quinn and Bailey Parsons.
