The 2017 Pollock Cup Interclub competition commences this Sunday at the Clearwater Golf Club at 10.00am.
Round 1 sees defending Champions Russley who have dominated Pollock Cup over the past four years locking horns with 2016 runners-up Christchurch. Russley will again be looking to dominate early and have import Nicky Muir (Hororata) in their side while Christchurch have added import Melissa Newburn (Coringa) to their squad this season.
Host club Clearwater will be looking to improve on their 2016 placing when they meet last year’s semi-finalists Waitikiri on Sunday who again have the services of import Ginny Bolderston (Geraldine) strengthening their squad.
The final match of the round sees last year’s semi-finalists Harewood with their experienced import Catherine Knight (Ashburton) again in their squad, playing Pollock Cup newcomers Pegasus, who will add considerable interest to the competition, and have import Kawhena Rangihaeata (Avondale) who has returned to Christchurch from Wellington.
With six teams now in the competition (increasing from five in 2015 & 2016) there will be some great match ups between the players in the build up to the representative season and with teams relatively evenly matched the title for 2017 is wide open.
