Round four of the 2020 Woodward Cup was held yesterday at Christchurch Golf Club in fine and sunny conditions.
Hosts Christchurch took on Templeton and were too strong winning 5-3, with their top order doing the damage. The top five of Jordan Bakermans, Marcel Boet, Mike Toeke, Tom Parker, and Richard Reed all had wins, while for Templeton it was the bottom three that got the points - Jordan Latter, Tom Wilson, and Josh Simpson.
Russley took on Harewood and interest centred around the No.1 battle between Matt McLean and Reid Hilton. In a close tussle Hilton prevailed 2/1. In the end Russley proved too strong for Harewood winning 6.5-1.5. Russley got their other wins from Hayato Miya, Taylor Hosking, Michael McAuley, Owen Burgess, Andrew Dufton, and a half to Ben Baker with Sam Watkinson. Harewood's sole victor was Harry Weeds.
Pegasus had a good battle with Avondale and prevailed 5-3. Wins went to Kazuma Kobori, Zach May, Peter Brinsdon, Phil Stephens, and James Cadenhead. For Avondale it was Richard Sinclair, Dean Harvey, and Rodney van Steenis that prevailed.
Weedons will take great heart from their 4.5-3.5 win over Waitikiri. James Metzger, Jonathan Stieller, Brad Nightingale, and Devon Nightingale all won for Weedons while Austin Hamilton got a half with Brett Turner. For Waitikiri Aaron Forsyth, Antony Dale, and Woo Bong Kim had wins.
Bottle Lake were too strong for Hororata 5.5-2.5. Andrew Green won the No.1 battle over Dominic Brettkelly 4/3. Jason Campbell, Aaron Neill, and Steve Dellow got the other wins for Bottle Lake while there were three halves - Lachie MacKay v Owen Miller, Kieran Sharvin v Mike Bailey, and Ben Burgess v Anuresh Chandra. For Hororata Steve Bell won.
