The Canterbury Golf Association is committed to Player Development & Representative Golf. At the beginning of 2006 the Canterbury Golf Association implemented a new Player Development Programme. This new programme has already produced impressive results, with the Canterbury Senior Team finishing a credible second at the 2006 SBS Invitational. The main features of this programme include:
- Implementing sound team management and selection processes
- Building a strong Canterbury Golf Culture where players aspire to represent Canterbury at the highest level
- Supporting the individual player/coach relationship by providing Canterbury players with sports psychology, conditioning, nutrition, and personal development learning opportunities
- Selecting and assisting Canterbury players to tournaments outside the Canterbury region in order to increase player experience and depth at the highest level
