Interclub Draws & Results - Men

Central Canterbury Shield

An off the stick, match play, interclub, competition between clubs from the Canterbury Central District as listed below.

Tournament Conditions

CENTRAL CANTERBURY SHIELD RULES AND CONDITIONS

GENERAL
1. The Central Canterbury Shield is played for by teams drawn from the Central Canterbury Clubs, either club teams or combined teams. The clubs from which the teams are drawn are: Akaroa; Burnham; Charteris Bay; Ellesmere; Greendale; Hororata; Kaituna; Lincoln; Tai Tapu; Weedons.
TEAMS
2. Teams are to consist of eight male players.
3. No player shall play for more than one team in one year.
4. Competitors must be full or life members of the club they play for.
5. Teams are allowed to nominate the playing order of players without reference to the handicap ranking of each player.
COURSES
6. All clubs in Central Canterbury shall be required to make their course available for matches in the competition.
7. The courses shall be selected by the Match Committee, who will forward to all clubs a Match Programme setting out time and dates of fixtures.
CONDITIONS OF PLAY
8. All matches shall be match play over a maximum of 18 holes. The team winning the greater number of matches shall receive 2 points. In the case of a draw, both teams receive 1 point.
9. The matches are to be played on Sundays.
10. Time of Starting: The players shall start off at the time laid down by the committee. If, in the absence of circumstances which warrant waiving the penalty of disqualification as provided in Rule 33-7, the player arrives at his starting point ready to play within 5 minutes of his start time, the penalty for failure to start on time is loss of the first hole. All afternoon rounds are to start no later than five hours after the morning start time.
11. In the event of a team defaulting, the winning team shall be awarded five matches.
12. At the end of the Competition, the team securing the highest number of points shall be the winner. In the event of a tie, the winner shall be decided by the highest number of individual matches won over the season. If there is still a tie there will be a play-off by the teams concerned on a neutral course. The date and course is to be selected by the match committee. If there is still a tie there shall be a sudden-death play-off by the top five players, each match proceeding to a conclusion.
MATCH COMMITTEE
13. The Match Committee is appointed by the Central Canterbury Executive Committee and consists of two members with the President and Vice-President making a total of four. A quorum of the Match Committee is three.
14. The Match Committee may deal with any matter not provided for in these rules and its decision is final.
15. The local rules of the host club are to be observed by the players.
16. In the event of a decision being required on the day of a match, the matter is to be decided by the members of the Match Committee who are present and any other person whom they wish to co-opt.
RESULTS
17. It shall be the duty of all team captains, whether winning or losing, to complete and sign a results sheet for the match being played. This result sheet shall contain a certification that all players have completed and handed in a score card. Results must be faxed to Fax 359 4001, or posted to Canterbury Golf Inc. PO Box 39 014, Harewood, Christchurch 8545 to be received no later than the Wednesday following the match.
ENTRY FEE
18. The entry fee for each team is payable to Canterbury Golf Incorporated at the time the entry is received prior to the start of the competition.
PROTESTS
19. Any protest concerning the result of any match in the Competition must be lodged in writing and reach Canterbury Golf Incorporated by the Wednesday following the match.
