The 2024 edition of the CGI Order of Merit (OOM) Tour Championship takes place this Sunday at Clearwater Golf Club in what is the culmination of the 23/24 season. Players have been accumulating points at the relevant OOM events over recent months resulting in player rankings for each division.
In the senior competition, the top 8 ranked Women and Men along with the top 4 ranked Men's and Women's Masters as of 31 March have been extended invites and one last opportunity to gain points towards their season total as they look to seize the OOM trophy alongside the awarded Development Funds...

The finals of the Metro A and B interclub 2023/24 seasons were played at McLeans Island Golf Club on Sunday 21st April in fine and clear conditions.
The course was in great condition, thanks must go to the McLeans Island club and their enthusiastic staff on the day.
The Metro A Cup was won by Avondale, the playing-through champs from the 2022/23 season, who beat Clearwater by a close 4 and a half to three and a half margin. The full Metro A season results can be viewed - HERE.

Canterbury Golf is now seeking expressions of interest for the Manager positions for the 2024 Canterbury Representative Teams. These are rewarding roles that contribute to the ongoing success of Canterbury Golf.
The purpose of these positions is to assist players to ensure they are supported and managed to perform at their best while representing Canterbury. The available roles and their job descriptions can be found below:

The Final Round of Presidents Grade Interclub was held at Christchurch Golf Club yesterday in fine, autumn conditions.As per usual the day's matches were close, competitive and friendly and nearing the end of the round all eyes were on the Templeton vs Waitikiri match as both Waimairi Beach and Rawhiti who were contenders for the title had won their matches. Last off the course were Templeton and Waitikiri's numbers 1 and 2's with Waitikiri managing to turn around a halfway deficit to win the match 4.5-3.5 and win the competition by 1 point from both Waimairi Baech and Rawhiti.The contest...

The 2024 edition of the NZ Women's Masters was played over the weekend at the Waiuku Golf Club.
The Canterbury team consisted of Sally Rossiter (Pegasus), Rachel Eder (Clearwater, Jo Kent (Rangiora), and Chris Marple (Waitikiri) and were managed by Debbie Scott. Friday's Day 1 saw the team get off to a solid start with 88 points scored utilising the team's best 3 scores. Eder managing 31, Rossiter contributing 30 alongside Kent's 27.

Canterbury Golf would like to acknowledge the unexpected passing of Canterbury Golf Life Member William (Bill) Southgate on April 5.Bill, aged 83 was also a past President of the Canterbury Golf Association from 1999-2000 and a long standing member of the Russley Golf Club.The funeral service for Bill will held iin the Lamb & Hayward Westpark Chapel, 467 Wairakei Road, Burnside, on Friday April 12, at 10.00am, followed by a private cremation.

The annual Canterbury North vs Buller Westland Rep fixture was played last weekend at the Hokitika Golf Club. Senior and Intermediate teams battled it out on the links course at Hokitika in the typical West Coast weather. A brisk breeze got up on Saturday afternoon to give the North men a true links experience.
Results after the first day 4BBB and foursomes were very close, with Canterbury North leading the seniors 6 games to 4 and the intermediates 6.5 games to 5.5, leaving it all up for grabs on the final day singles.

The Annual Canterbury Life Members tournament was held on 6 March at the Hawarden Golf Club. The course was in wonderful condition and Hawarden were amazing hosts to a field of 16 players.
This year the Canterbury Golf Executive underwrote the costs of the tournament as a thank you to the Life Members. These people have dedicated many hours to their individual clubs, this is a chance to recognise these efforts and to hear the stories of the work these people have given to their clubs was very overwhelming.

Playing on the NXTT tour at the Royal St Cloud golf course in Florida on the weekend, Garvey knocked in the trio of sub-part shots for a round of six-under – which saw her eventually tie for seventh place.
Garvey’s astonishing feat has created sporting history – with NXTT confirming the treble had never been achieved by any professional golfer before.
