A full field of 96 players have had great conditions for the Lamb & Hayward Canterbury Stroke Play played at the Waitikiri Golf Club. Players were treated with not only great weather over the weekend but also playing a course which was in excellent condition which was a credit to the green keeping staff given the amount of rain the course has had in the weeks leading up to the event.
The Men's Open section was closely fought with Dominic Brettkelly (Hororata) and Kazuma Kobori (Rangiora) finishing tied on 212. A sudden death playoff took place place with Dominic Brettkelly prevailing...

The field is now confirmed for the 2018 Lamb & Hayward Canterbury Strokeplay to be held at Waitikiri Golf Club this weekend. It should be an interesting tournament with many new faces in the field from other South Island Districts. Most are attracted by the House of Travel Tour prizes on offer across the Canterbury, Otago and Southland Strokeplays.
The Men's Open field is lead by defending champ Southland Rep Scott Hellier, and a host of other provincial reps. It is unfortunate that Canterbury's Tom Parker could not play as he is currently competing at the Australian Amateur Championship near Perth....

Southland's Scott Hellier will be back to defend the Lamb & Hayward Canterbury Strokeplay title at Waitkiri Golf Club this weekend, but will face some very stiff opposition from one of the best fields assembled in recent years.
Hellier is most recently remembered for his unbelievable course record 60 in qualifying at the 2017 New Zealand Amateur at Russley Golf Club last November and will no doubt bring that form to the strokeplay. However the introduction of the House of Travel Tour that sees $3250 worth of prizes for competing in the Canterbury, Otago and Southland Strokeplays, has attracted many top...

Over 120 caddies will be required for the 2018 ISPS HANDA New Zealand Open being held in Queenstown from the 1st - 4th of March, 2018 at Millbrook and The Hills Golf Clubs. At the 2017 event, we had several caddies needed on the Sunday either caddying for Professionals or assisting some of the amateur players with one of our young caddies on the bag of the runner up, Brad Kennedy. In 2015, one of our volunteer caddies, Jaimes Wood from the Royal Wellington Golf Club, had the experience of carrying the bag for the eventual winner, Jason Zunic. Jaimes described it as an...

Hiroki Miya (Russley Golf Club) has successfully defended his Faldo Series New Zealand Championship title and will once again be travelling to the Nick Faldo designed Laguna Lang Co golf course in Danang, Vietnam in early March 2018 to contest the Faldo Series Asia Championship title. The 17-year-old was the stand out player of the tournament posting the tournament low rounds of 68 in both his opening and closing rounds of the 54 hole event, which combined with his second round of 71 left him 9 under par with a final total of 207. Miya was 7 shots clear of...

The Canterbury Golf 9 Hole Christmas Tournament was held at Russley Golf Club on Monday 11 December attracting 53 players. Another hot day and some not so easy rough, tested the players at Russley.
Grade 1 - 1st Gross was won by Hiromi Ikehata (Methven) with a 46, Grade 2 - 1st Gross by Claire Ballantyne (Russley) on 52 and 1st Stableford in the Men's Grade was won by Mike Markilie (Methven) with 18 points on a countback from...

82 players competed in the CGI 18 Hole Women's Christmas Tournament at Waitikiri Golf Club on Friday 8 December. It was pleasing to have such a good entry including players from Ashburton and North Canterbury. With the temperature at 30 degrees, Waitikiri's green fairways and trees offered some relief and players coped well in the conditions.
Rachel Eder (left) from Clearwater revelled in the conditions to return a sizzling one over par 75 to win Grade 1 and receive the Heather Harvey Salver. Grade 2 Gross and the CDLGA Salver was won by Sharon Brazier (right) of Waitikiri with a 94.
The prize winners were treated to...
