It's going to be a real pleasure to have Phil Aickin on stage with us at our upcoming Awards Evening!!
Phil has spent a lifetime in this game - representing New Zealand as an elite amateur, shaping how golf is run and rated across the country as Golf NZ's Tournament and Handicapping Manager, and putting pen to paper on the history of golf in New Zealand.
We're looking forward to hearing the stories he's got. There'll be a few good ones ⛳️

This year for our Awards Evening we’ve got a guest speaker who knows more about this game than most.
We’re not giving it away just yet, but if you love the history, the craft and the stories behind golf in New Zealand - you’re going to want to be in the room!
➡️ He’s a three-time Eisenhower representative.
➡️ He’s won 3x Bledisloe Cups.
➡️ He’s officiated The Open three times.
➡️ And he’s a hugely respected figure in golfing administration.

Our juniors delivered some great golf today, working through a frosty start that soon lifted into a clear, sunny day. It was fantastic to see so many players giving their best throughout the day.

We’re introducing a brand-new award at this year’s Canterbury Golf Awards Evening. The Canterbury Golf Team of the Year. A celebration of the teams who trained together, competed together and gave everything for each other on the course. The camaraderie, the performances, the moments that made the year special. This one is for the teams that made you proud ❤️
And while we’re at it, nominations are still open for Volunteer of the Year and Administrator of the Year. If someone has given their time, their energy and their passion to this game and deserves to be recognised, now is the time to put their name forward.

Canterbury Golf Awards Evening 2026 is coming up! Save the date – Friday 21st August 2026 at Christchurch Golf Club.
History was made at our championship and interclub events this year, we saw record numbers out competing and playing, and the game here has never felt more alive. Now it's time to celebrate. And this year we're adding something new to the night - introducing the Team of the Year award, recognising the collective effort that makes Canterbury golf so special.
