Canterbury Golf are seeking expressions of interest for the Canterbury Men’s & Women's Selector positions. This is a rewarding role that contributes to the ongoing success of Canterbury Golf.
To successfully fulfil the role, the following skills and attributes are required:

A passion for golf
Excellent communication and analytical skills
Ability to spent time at interclub and major tournaments based in Canterbury to observe players

Zach May and Amy Weng came through some tough opposition to win their maiden titles at the 2021 Hazlett Insurance Canterbury Matchplay Championships held at Templeton Golf Club over the weekend.
For May it continued his steady rise through the amateur ranks to the top echelon of amateur golfers in New Zealand. Through the round of 16 and the quarter finals on Saturday May played steady golf beating Dan Laughton and Jake Roberts. The Woodward Cup Promotion / Relegation match was played at Russley Golf Club last Sunday in fine weather and the ciourse in great condition.
Four teams were involved in the gross stableford format competition, Amberley, Clearwater, Hororata and Lincoln.
It was the Clearwater team of Bill O'Brien (Manager), Harris Kim, Leon Yee, Michael Bailey, Martin Taylor, Ben Burgess, William Bastings, Lou Vieceli and Ryan Adams that proved too strong finishing on 228 stableford points, 34 points clear of Hororata on 194, Amberley 187 and Lincoln on 171 points.
Clearwater will now take their place in the 2021 Woodward Cup competition.

The 2021 Hazlett Insurance Canterbury Matchplay Championships is being held at Templeton Golf Club this weekend. The field has slightly been affected by COVID restrictions with some out-of-town players not being able to travel, in particular Auckland-based Joshua Bai who placed third in the recent Canterbury Strokeplay.
The Men's Championship bracket of 16 players will tee-off Saturday morning with Harewood's Matt McLean the top seed. He will face Waitikiri's Kris O'Neill. Second seed Josh Smith (Ashburton) will face Templeton's Mac McCall. and third seed Royal Auckland's Cameron Harlock who was out of Auckland when Level 3 hit, will face Jake Roberts....

The Annual Canterbury Golf Life Members Tournament was held at Waimairi Beach Golf Club on Monday in fine conditions and the course in great order.
Scoring was very competitive with just six stableford points splitting the first nine players.

Canterbury Golf Captains Day Tournament was held at Greendale Golf Club on Friday in perfect golfing conditions and the course in great order. It's always a great opportunity for Canterbury Men and Women Club Captains to enjoy each others company and share ideas from their respective clubs.
Some excellent scoring, in particular by the Ladies Club Captains saw the top 9 teams separated by just 6 stableford points.

New Zealand and Wellington rep Kerry Mountcastle staged a spectacular back nine comeback to beat Canterbury's Kazuma Kobori by one shot for the Men's Championship at the 2021 Smiths City Canterbury Strokeplay held at Clearwater this weekend.
