A previously never achieved milestone was reached earlier this month by Woodward Cup stalwart Jason Sincock who on the 10th of August at Clearwater became the first player to make 300 Woodward Cup appearances, a truly staggering achievement.
Jason’s first Woodward Cup appearance was made 40 years ago in 1985 where he debuted for Avondale in a year that saw him go unbeaten winning 5 of his 7 matches. He continued at that level switching briefly to Waitikiri before playing for the North Canterbury composite team for several years through to 2007. At that point Jason ventured overseas and had an 8 year break before returning to Woodward Cup action with North Canterbury in 2005.
Stints with Kaiapoi between 2008-2010 before a 6-year stint with Coringa, Jason then moved to the Christchurch Golf Club in 2017 where he has played for the last 8 seasons. Within Jason’s 300 games, he has amassed 153 wins alongside 34 halves in a career that has spanned 4 decades. We recently congratulated Jason and presented him a plaque to recognise this feat.
