Bring the fun of golf to your school!

Canterbury Golf’s Golf in Schools programme is designed for primary, intermediate, and secondary schools. The programme introduces students to golf through games, challenges, and skill-building activities that make learning easy and enjoyable

Students build confidence, coordination and teamwork while discovering a sport they can enjoy for life.

Programmes Available

Starting New at Golf (SNAG):

What: The SNAG programme incorporates modified equipment that allows golf to be learned with positive results in a fun environment.

Delivered over three sessions, the children will learn the basic fundamental skills used in golf so that they are able to play the game.

Velcro targets and tennis like balls are used in a fun and interactive way to learn fundamental and basic sports skills. Not only is it fun, colourful and educational, but it is also safe.

For: Years 3-5

Getting Started (GS):

What: The GS programme transitions the children into using golf equipment that is age specific. The programme teaches fundamental skills using key phrases to ensure success with each activity and game.

Three sessions are delivered at the school followed by session four which takes place at the nearest golf course allowing the children to put all their skills together in a fun experience playing at the golf course.

For: Years 6-8

Secondary School (SS):

What: The Secondary School programme will be tailored by our Golf in Schools presenter alongside the school sport coordinator to match the learning intentions of the school.

A range of proper iron clubs will be used with different sizes available depending on the students’ age and physical needs in a safe and contained environment. This programme can either be delivered over 3 sessions at the school, or with an additional 4th session at a local golf course.

For: Years 9-13

Optional Extras

SNAG Inflatable:

What: An inflatable driving range (13m long x 7m wide x 4m high) consisting of Velcro targets and modified equipment. Transported to your site and delivered by trained staff providing the opportunity to try golf using SNAG equipment in a fun and safe environment.

For: Years 3-6

Secondary School Advanced:

What: An advanced secondary school golf programme to be delivered at the Sir Bob Charles (SBC) Golf Centre – a state of the art golf practice facility. This is for schools looking for more advance golf tuition from qualified NZ PGA Golf Professionals in a purpose-built facility featuring a world class driving range and short game area. The SBC Golf Centre staff will lead a professional programme appropriate for beginners through to advanced players, utilising their top of the range technology and high-quality coaches. Schools are required to organise their own transport to the facility for each session.

One off Deliveries

Our Golf in Schools presenter will come to your school or holiday programme and deliver a one-time programme, bringing all the required gear.

One off cost for SNAG, Getting Started and Secondary School Programmes:

$100+gst per class/session
Minimum daily delivery fee of $300+gst (based on 3 classes per delivery day)

SNAG Inflatable:

$250+gst per hour
Minimum daily charge $500+gst.

Standard Programmes (3-4 weeks)

Our Golf in Schools presenter will come to your school over 3 successive weeks and deliver either a SNAG, Getting Started, or Secondary school programme bringing all the required gear. The GS and SS programmes also include a 4th session option at the local golf course.

SNAG, 3-week programme cost: $225+gst per class
Getting Started, 4-week programme cost: $300+gst per class
