Canterbury Golf is pleased to welcome Ferguson Earthmoving on board as the new sponsor of the Canterbury Golf Junior Order of Merit (OOM) Series, reinforcing a shared commitment to supporting the continued growth and development of junior golf across the region.
The Junior Order of Merit Series plays an important role in providing young golfers with meaningful competitive development opportunities throughout the season, with events hosted by Canterbury Golf and affiliated clubs across the region. Through the series, players not only compete for Order of Merit honours, but also have the opportunity to access valuable OOM Development Fund prizes designed to assist in their golfing journey.
These Development Funds have been established to help grow participation in Junior Order of Merit events while also providing practical support for aspiring young players looking to continue their development and compete more regularly. Funds can be used for a range of development-related opportunities, including golf event travel costs, tournament entry fees, coaching, and specialist golf support such as strength and conditioning or mental skills development.
By reducing some of the barriers associated with competitive golf, the Development Fund initiative helps Canterbury’s emerging players access the experiences and support they need to continue progressing in the game.
Canterbury Golf GM Blair Minton said Ferguson Earthmoving’s support is a significant boost for junior golf in the region.
“We are thrilled to welcome Ferguson Earthmoving as the sponsor of our Junior Order of Merit Series. Their support will help us continue to grow participation in junior competitive golf while also directly assisting the development of our young players through the Order of Merit Development Fund prizes. These funds can make a real difference in helping aspiring golfers access coaching, support services and competitive playing opportunities that contribute to their long-term development.”
Ferguson Earthmoving Director James Ferguson said the partnership was a natural fit.
“We’re proud to be involved with Canterbury Golf and to support the growth of junior golf in the region. Developing young players and helping provide opportunities for them to progress in the game is something we’re excited to be part of, and we’re looking forward to supporting the Junior Order of Merit Series and the talented young golfers coming through Canterbury.”
