Canterbury Men's Over 50's & 60's Interclub

Mens Over 50s 60s Tai Tapu Winners Ind. 50s Team Net. 60s Team Gross Cropped The Final round of Canterbury Men's Over 50's & 60's Interclub was completed at Bottle Lake Club on Sunday. The popular competition attracted 23 teams who played six rounds during the 2023/24 season. Prize giving2 The 2024 annual Presidents, Secretaries & Captains Day was delivered by Canterbury Golf at Harewood Golf Club last Friday in what as always is a special day on the calendar.  In all, there were 92 players in the field which included 36 club Captains (18 pairs), 23 Presidents, and 15 Secretaries/Club Managers all taking part as well as the many invited guests. IMG 1838 Another exciting edition of Canterbury’s premier golf action concluded yesterday as the 2024 Canterbury Stroke Play lived up to expectations. Playing at Christchurch Golf Club the players and spectators were treated to immaculate course conditions showcasing arguably one of the best courses in the region. Insta SP Draw Release 1 All is set for an exciting 2024 Lamb and Hayward Canterbury Stroke Play Championship this weekend at one of the premier and historic golfing venues in Christchurch Golf Club. Canterbury Golf Life Member - Brian Newsome

Brian Newsome 2002 Selector Cropped Canterbury Golf would like to acknowledge the unfortunate passing of Life Member Brian (BeeJay) Newsome.  Brian, born in 1933, was also a Life Member of McLeans Island Golf Club where he played all his golf, except for his early years at Harewood. His contribution to Canterbury Golf took place over several years including 12 years of service on the management committee between 1988 and 2000, and 7 years as convenor of selectors – 5 for junior convenor and 2 as senior convenor.  He was also an age-group team manager during that time. Michael Rondel appointed to Golf NZ Board and Dion Kerr appointed as new Canterbury Golf President

Dion Kerr and Mike Rondel RS2 Following the recent Golf New Zealand Board (GNZ) elections process where each District Associations was required to first nominate any candidates and then subsequently vote for their preferred candidate, it has been confirmed that Canterbury Golf President Michael Rondel has been voted and elected to the GNZ Board. Michael will join the also-elected Andy Sellar with them both commencing their respective 3-year terms starting 1 January 2024. Further, it has just been confirmed that the GNZ Appointments Panel has now also completed their processes and has appointed Anna Tierney for a 3-year term, and Kylie Boyd for a 1-year term (casual vacancy)...

Canterbury Central Masters Champions 2023 Hororata Black LR The Final of the Canterbury Central Masters Interclub Competition was played at Ellesmere yesterday with the course in great order.The Masters interclub season had to be extended just over a month due to some postponements as a result of poor weather, however the weather gods certainly turned on a great day yesterday for the Final. It was the two zone runners-up from pool play that made it to the final with Hororata Black facing Lincoln North. Peter and his colleagues deliver the annual NZ Hickory Open which now consists of a week-long programme of Hickory events all leading up to the Open itself on March 10th at Christchurch Golf Club. Men and Women Team Photo The 2024 edition of the Men’s and Women’s NZ Interprovincial tournament was played last week on the Kapiti Coast with the Men’s and Women’s premier Representative competitions once again being played in parallel to each other at Paraparaumu Beach and Waikanae Golf Clubs.
