Canterbury’s emerging golfers recently took part in the inaugural Canterbury Emerging Players vs Aorangi fixture at Ellesmere Golf Club, with 46 players from across the two regions coming together for a day of team based competition. The match featured 18 holes of singles match play followed by a nine hole Ambrose format, giving players a taste of representative golf in a team environment.
The Emerging Players program provides an inclusive yet aspirational environment where more young players can develop, stay in the game longer and reach their potential on their own timeline.
While Aorangi claimed the inaugural fixture 62-46, the day was a great success for both regions. Beyond the result, the event provided valuable exposure to match play golf, team culture also while strengthening the connection between Canterbury and Aorangi Golf. Canterbury Golf would like to thank Aorangi Golf, Ellesmere Golf Club, players, parents, and supporters for helping make the event such a memorable occasion.
