Women's 18 and 36 Hole Interclub Finals

Womens 36 Hole Silver Interclub Winners 2018 Clearwater LR Web The Women's 18 and 36 Hole Interclub Finals were played at the Harewood Golf Club yesterday in cool, wintery conditions with the Woodlands course in excellent condition.     The 36 Hole Silver Final resulted in Clearwater's, from back left Liz Signal, Lynda Vieceli, Nicky Wright and front left, Julie Battersby, Virginia Faass and Maree Saunders defeating inform newcomer Amberley's Lyn Robertson, Barb Pettigrew, Jan Bishop and Kate Percy 4 - 2.                        The 36 Hole Open Final was again an all Tai Tapu Club affair with the Tai Tapu 2 team from left, Adrienne Shadbolt, Donna Edmonds, Sharon Screen and Jenny Stephens making it back...

Junior Interclub Semi-Finalists Selected

Junior Interclub 2018 Individual Winners LR The Final round of Junior Interclub Matchplay round robin was completed yesterday at Christchurch Golf Club while also identifyig the best individual performances over the three rounds of matchplay.  The Junior Interclub Maori Wahaika Trophy for the best individual performance was won jointly by Yoyo Fu (Coringa) who played for the Weedons Composite team and Lewis Patrick (Kaiapoi) pictured left, who both went through the three rounds unbeaten.   The Semi-Finals will be played at Weedons Country Club on 20 May at 8.30am between Russley White & Russley Blue and Kaiapoi & Lincoln with the Final on 10 June at Templeton Golf Club...

Kaikoura Cup Three-Peat for Pegasus

Kaikoura Cup Winner 2018 Pegasus Blue LR The North Canterbury Men’s Interclub Finals were played at Waimakiriri Gorge Golf Club yesterday in calm, cool conditions with the course in great order. The Kaikoura Cup Final between Pegasus Blue and Culverden was won in convincing fashion by Pegasus’, from left Rodney Van Steenis, Andrew Green, Phil Stephens, Peter Brinsdon, Matt Burns and Shaun Allan defeating Culverden’s Austin Hamilton, Brandon Parker, Landon Gardiner, James Metzger, Jamie Mead and Dean Cameron 6 - 0. Juliana Hung to Play Junior Open at St Andrews

Avondale 9 Hole Interclub Champions

9 Hole Interclub Winners 2018 Avondale LR The Canterbury 9 Hole Interclub Final was played at Kaiapoi yesterday in mild, calm conditions with the course in great order. The Avondale team of Kathryn Ferris, Linda Neilson, Rayleen Williams and Liz Newman with a combined Stableford score of 58 points defeated Russley’s Eleanor Smart, Kaye Radford, Claire Ballantyne and Pauline McGeorge with 47 points. The win was just reward for the very same four Avondale players who were narrowly beaten in last year’s Interclub final by Bottle Lake. The victorious Avondale squad are pictured below, from left Josie Laing, Kath Ferris, Linda Neilson, Rayleen Williams, Ariel Linklater and Liz Newman.

Family TEAM Ambrose Hits the Mark

Team Golf Alex Part of Canterbury Golf's strategy to grow the game has a focus on attracting young people and families to learn and play golf.  The Family TEAM Golf Ambrose was launched with 52 players made up of a family pairing of a child and adult participating in a 9 hole ambrose event.  "It was great to see families out playing in this fun event" said Canterbury Golf Development Manager Rachel Thow. Canterbury Players Selected for Junior World Cup

Juliana Hung (Canterbury), Carmen Lim (Auckland) and Rose Zheng (Auckland) show a nice mix of international experience and youth as they look to compete against the world’s best at the Chukyo Golf Club Ishino Course, Japan. Central Canterbury Defeat North Canterbury

Central Canterbury 2018 Team2 Greendale Golf Club put on a great day for the annual representative fixture between North and Central Canterbury.  The match was made up of 56 players with senior, intermediate, masters and junior sections. Central Canterbury (which are pictured) won three of the four sections with wins to the senior, junior and intermediate teams. Kaiapoi's Rodney Downes had a great start to the day scoring a hole in one during the mornings foursomes round on the 17th hole.
