The 2018 Golf Warehouse Canterbury Matchplay is being held at Waimairi Beach Golf Club over Labour Weekend starting with qualifying on Saturday, then matchplay on Sunday and Monday.
Defending Champion Hiroki Miya (Russley) will be looking for a three-peat when he defends his title in the Men's Open section. Two junior tournaments were held this week at McLeans Island and Christchurch Golf Clubs.
In addition to the 18 hole event at McLeans Island Golf Club a 9 hole non-handicap section was also held to provide the opportunity for children who are working towards a handicap to play in the event.
A field of 25 juniors (pictured left) braved the patchy rain at Christchurch Golf Club to produce some of best scoring seen at these events this year which included a net 55 by Korban Turnbull (Christchurch).

The Men's South Island Masters Interprovincial was played at the Pegasus Golf Club. The event has been reinstated onto the calendar in recent years but this year included all five South Island provinces with Tasman returning to the event.
The six man teams played over four rounds, with challenging conditions for all the players.
After day one Canterbury and Aorangi were tied on one and a half points and both teams were dominant on day two recording 11 of a possible 12 games to finish in a draw on points and games. The two teams also had a draw against each other...

The Fenix Canterbury U19 Team have achieved another top performance at the Boys Interprovincial played at the Cambridge Golf Club this week.
The team of Hiroki Miya, Ben Baker, Josh Roche, Zach May, Hayato Miya and Lachie Mackay had strong performances to beat Taranaki, Hawkes Bay and Bay of Plenty in the round robin play, they suffered a 5-1 loss to the eventual champions Wellington but finished on a high with a 4-2 win in the playoff for third against Auckland.

Aorangi defeated Canterbury at the annual Millennium Trophy competition held at Tinwald Golf Club yesterday. The course was in excellent condition with some good scores recorded.

The Russley interclub teams made the most of playing on their home course in front of an appreciative membership to win three out of the four finals on offer yesterday afternoon at the Canterbury Golf Interclub Finals Day.
In the Woodward Cup they had a good battle with Templeton who had made the final for the first time in many years and had not won the Woodward Cup since 1963. After nine holes the match was delicately poised with Russley leading 4.5-3.5 but only 1up in the four matches they held. However on the back nine their players really came through....

Kazuma Kobori and Sophie Yip have won the 2018 Victorian Boys and Girls Championships at Moonah Links Golf Club.Kiwi Kobori proved too strong for the competition, becoming the seventh dual winner and sixth player to claim back-to-back titles in Victoria’s oldest junior tournament.
