Women's Champions Day & Gross Stableford Rosebowl

Womens GSR Champions 2023 Rangiora Cropped2 The Women's Champion of Champions Tournament and Gross Stableford Rosebowl were held at Christchurch Golf Club yesterday in perfect summery conditions with the course in great order. The Women's Champion of Champion for 2023 is Catherine Palmer of Christchurch (pictured right) with a 1 stroke win over Alisia Ren (Russley).  Both players played immaculate golf, with Catherine finishing 1 over the card for a 36 hole total of 149 and and Alisia 2 over the card on 150. 2023 Women and Men’s South Island Interprovincial – Summary

Team with salver RS3 The Women’s and Men’s annual South Island Interprovincial tournaments were held over the 28-29 October weekend at Rangiora Golf Club and Otago Golf Club respectively. Women’s South Island Interprovincial Rangiora Golf Club played host to the women’s SI showpiece Rep event this year where they welcomed just three provinces this year in Otago, Aorangi, and Canterbury with the event being played over 36 holes. Team with flag RS Both our Boys and Girls Canterbury representative teams competed in their respective interprovincial tournaments last week in what was a great outcome for our leading youth golfers. Boys Interprovincial The boy's event took place at Cambridge Golf Club with 4 players making their tournament debut in James Walker (Russley), Etienne Collier (Avondale), Jonathan Fry (Russley), and Otis Holland (Harewood.) this was alongside tournament regulars Seb May (Clearwater), Yuki Miya (Pegasus) and Cooper Moore (Clearwater.) Stan Rich B OMalley Winners 2023 Cropped Spot Image The Final double rounds of Woodward and Blank Cups were played at Avondale and Coringa respectively on Sunday.As is customary, there were a number of players in contention for both competitions going into the double rounds vying for the opportunity to win the Stan Rich Salver (Woodward Cup) and B O'Malley Salver (Blank Cup) for best individual performances throughout round robin play. Ryan Bellamy (Templeton) left, came out on top in Woodward Cup with 8 wins and a half from 9 matches, while Ollie Partridge (Waimairi Beach) pictured with Blank Cup Convenor Don Brown, achieved 8 wins from 9 matches.

Merle Barley Salver Winners 2023 Cropped The final Pollock Cup round robin matches were played on Sunday at Waimairi Beach which signalled the last opportunity for players to stake their claim for individual honours and the Merle Barley Salver. There were several players in contention leading into the final round, however it was Waimairi Beach team mates Lyn Robertson (left) and Deanna Matthews who held their nerve, both finishing with a perfect 5 from 5 winning record to share the Merle Barley Salver. Team with Trophy RS The 2023 South Island Men’s Masters interprovincial was played over the weekend with our Cantabs taking top honours following a clinical weekend with 4 wins from 4 matches at Ashburton Golf club. The opening round of the event which is played in a split match format saw us take on Tasman and Southland with 3 individual matches against those provinces players. The Millennium Trophy Comes To Canterbury

Millennium Trophy Presentation 2023 Cropped The Annual Women's Millennium Trophy match between Aorangi and Canterbury was held at Hororata Golf Club yesterday in extremely windy conditions with the course in great order.It was the first time in the competition's 23 year history that Canterbury has won the trophy, so the Canterbury team had every reason to be jubilant that 'It was our Year'. Considering the gale force winds and conditions the scoring was very good with Canterbury's aggregate stableford score 29.54 to Aorangi's 29.33.Pam Ellis and Vicki Ward are presented with the Millennium Trophy from Aorangi's Sue Brandreth. Wombles Canterbury Logo Canterbury Golf would like to do a shout-out to the Wombles Canterbury Chapter which has donated funds towards this season's Junior Order of Merit. The Wombles were established in 2022 as organisation with two main purposes, the first to run golf days that support the region's rural clubs and the second to support junior golf in the region. Members sign up annually and their membership fee goes towards the green fees for each of their golf days providing a good profit for the clubs they attend, additionally, the funds and money they raise they then donate to Canterbury Golf to...
