The annual Canterbury vs. Aorangi fixture was played at Ashburton Golf Club yesterday with more players involved than ever. Both the Women’s and Master’s Men’s events were expanded to 10-person teams to allow both provinces to provide opportunities for a wider group of representative players to be involved. The men’s and Junior’s categories maintained their 8-man and 4-man teams respectively meaning there was a total of 32 Canterbury players involved, including 11 debuts.

Hawarden defeated Boyle Cup holders Scargill 3-2 in a very close match at Scargill on Friday with the result only being decided on the final hole.
It was Scargill's third defence of the Boyle Cup after defeating previous challengers Bottle Lake 4.5-.5 and Hanmer Springs 5-0.The successful Hawarden team from left are Judith Sowden, Jill Allan, Erin Mulholland, Michelle Fletcher and Rose Cassidy. It's been a very memorable few weeks for the Hawarden ladies winning the Cowlishaw Cup and now the Boyle Cup for the first time since 1933.

The Canterbury Golf 9 Hole Tournament was played at Templeton Golf Club yesterday in cool conditions, with the sun making an appearance later in the morning.With the course in great order 31 ladies and 1 man braved the wintery conditions and posted some excellent stableford results as follows:

The annual Town vs Country fixture was played at Amberly Golf Club yesterday. With some initial showers soon passing, the day was played in brisk but fine conditions with the course in good shape.
With the event being played in a new trial format in 2023 the opening qualifying round commenced with a shotgun start at 8am with 4-man groupings scattered across the course. The Final Results have been confirmed for the Women's National Teams Championship, and it was all so close for the Canterbury District Champion Harewood team of Marie Bell, Amy Liu, Kathryn Maloney and Liz Warren finishing runner-up, 1 shot behind National Champions Rangatira who finished 18 under par.

On Friday the 11th of August the annual Canterbury Golf Awards Dinner was held at Christchurch Golf Club. With over a hundred people from the Canterbury Golf community in attendance a great evening was held celebrating not only the previous seasons player on-field performances but also importantly the opportunity was taken to recognise those that have given so much to the game locally over many years.

The CGI Executive has made a decision to appoint Blair Minton into the new role of General Manager – Pathways and Performance. This new role will be the senior employment position within Canterbury Golf and will report directly to the Executive. Blair will be responsible for the oversight of the day-to-day operations and delivery of the participation, club support, and competition golf aspects of the organisation.
