Round 4 of Pollock Cup was played at Rangiora yesterday in fine, sunny weather and the course in great order.
In the first match of the day Clearwater defeated Waitikiri 3.5-2.5 in a real nail biter with three matches going down the18th. Kim Moggach just getting up over Rachel Eder 1 up, Chris Marple halved with Jo Kent and Lynda Vieceli also finishing on the 18th to beat Jenny Ahn 2 up. Waitikiri's other win coming from Ginny Bolderston. Wins for Virginia Faass and Lexi-Thomson-Hall was just enough to give Clearwater the win and take them to the top-of-the-table.
Harewood caused the upset of the round, registering their first win of the competiton defeating previously unbeaten Russley 4-2. This match was also an arm wrestle with three matches again going the distance before Catherine Knight halved with Alisia Ren, Julie Jones halved with Jessie Mercer and Estelle Lin beating Sally Rossiter 1 up. Lynda Brown, Lynn Brand and Jo McNicholl all had wins for Harewood to give them a hard fought victory.
The final match of the round between Waimairi Beach and Avondale also had some close matches before Waimairi Beach got across the line with a 4-2 win. Jaimee Leach and Kasey Cross both won tight matches for Avondale while wins to Angela Gerken, Georgia Wayman, Zaria Bourne and Lyn Robertson cemented the two points for Waimairi Beach to leave them just one point adrift of leaders Clearwater.

The next round of Pollock Cup is this Sunday 8.30am at Clearwater.
