Woodward Cup - Rounds 4 & 5

Fine conditions greeted Woodward Cup players at Bottle Lake yesterday for their first of four double rounds of the competition. 

In Round 4 Waitikiri drew 4-4 with Weedons in tight matches. For Waitikiri Kris O'Neill, Brett Turner, Simon Marshall and Woobong Kim had wins while Devon Nightingale, Hayden Clinton, Jonathan Stieller and Brad Nightingale registered wins for Weedons.
Avondale were firing on all cylinders in their match against Christchurch winning 7.5-.5. Cosmo Graham halved his match with Richard Sinclair while Dean Harvey, Sam Purdon, Nathan Andrews, Hayden Burns, Teariki Tangiiti, Nick Brennan and Dan Moriarty had wins for Avondale.
Pegasus continued their winning ways defeating Clearwater 5-3. At the top of the order Kazuma Kobori and Zach May halved with Archie Gothard and Will Bastings while Phil Stephens, James Cadenhead, Peter Brinsdon and Nathan Gilbert all won comfortably for Pegasus. Clearwater's wins came courtesy of Marcel Boet and Ryan Adams.
Templeton also unbeaten to date defeated hosts Bottle Lake 5.5-2.5. For Templeton, Dan Laughton halved with Jed Robertson while Ryan Bellamy. Nick Franzmann, Jordon Latter, Tom Wilson and Josh Simpson all had wins. Bottle Lake's wins came from Andrew Green at the top of the order and Steve Delllow at the bottom of the order.
The 5.5-2.5 scoreline didn't reflect the closeness of the Russley win against Harewood, with all but one match going to the penultimate hole. Reid Hilton, Dominic Brettkelly, Michael McAuley, Owen Burgess and Andrew Dufton had wins for Russley, Regan Kilpatrick halved with Sam Watkinson and Harewood's other points came from Scott Manyweathers and Harry Weeds.

In Round 5 Christchurch defeated Bottle Lake 5-3. Christchurch's wins came from Jason Sincock, Mika MacDonald, Richard Reed, Finlay Jones while John Rademakers and James Pearson halved with Steve Bell and Steve Dellow. Jason Campbell and Andrew Green, winning his second match for the day had wins for Bottle Lake.
Templeton rounded off a successful day defeating Waitikiri 5-3 but not before Waitikiri kept them very honest down the stretch with some close finishes. Dan Laughton, Ryan Bellamy, Jordon Latter, Tom Wilson and Sam McGill backed up good morning form to win for Templeton with Chris Bond and Kris O'Neill again winning at the top of the order for Waitikiri.
Harewood also had a good arm wrestle with Avondale before winning 4.5-3.5. Matt McLean, Daniel Lundt, Sam Watkinson and Anuresh Chandra had wins for Harewood while Harry Weeds halved with Nick Brennan. Avondale's other wins came courtesy of Sam Purdon, Richard Sinclair and Teariki Tangiiti.
Russley defeated Clearwater 5-3. Wins to Reid Hilton, Ben Baker, Regan Kilpatrick, Michael McAuley and Jake Roberts made it two from two on the day for the defending Champions, while Marcel Boet, Harris Kim and Seb May had wins for Clearwater.
Pegasus who also had a good day at the office accounted for Weedons 6-2. Kazuma Kobori, Zach May, Shaun Allan, Phil Stephens, James Cadenhead and Peter Brinsdon had wins for Pegasus while Alex Van Schaardenburg and Jonathan Stieller provided Weedons two points with wins.

With the annual Canterbury vs Aorangi representative fixture next weekend, Woodward Cup takes a break for a week before a double round at Waitikiri on 26 September.
