A new event for kids run by Canterbury Golf attracted over 50 children aged 4-13 years to Templeton Golf Club over the weekend. This fun event was played over 9 holes using a shortened course which holes varying in length between 100 and 200 metres. Special large eight inch holes were put in the greens for the event making it lots of fun for the kids.
“The event was really successful attracting many kids that were trying golf for the first time along with other children who had been learning golf and keen to take their skills onto the golf course for this fun event” said Canterbury Golf Development Manager Rachel Thow. “It’s an area we would like to develop further to provide opportunities for these children to become more engaged with golf and have fun playing events”. The kids received a few tips from the Canterbury Boys Under 19 Team who were on hand to help guide the groups around the course. A great day out for the kids and their parents who assisted to caddy for the round.
