Seniors Have Good Week in Christchurch

Posted by: on 23 February 2017

The week 13-18 February saw a series of Seniors tournaments in Christchurch that drew many local and overseas Seniors Professionals to play, along with a good contingent of amateurs who enjoyed the Pro-Am format.

On Monday the Mainpower Legends Rangiora Pro-Am was played in strong nor-westerly conditions with Australian Pro David Good and local Colin Hunt both scoring 71 to share the title.

The Ramada Suites NZPGA Seniors Championship was held Wednesday to Friday with the first round at Bottle Lake and the final two rounds at Waitikiri. 2016 OOM Winner Tim Elliott (pictured right) led most of the way and eventually ran out the winner by five shots from Australian Brad Burns.

Over $70,000 in prize money was played for over the week.  Thanks must go to the clubs, sponsors, the NZPGA, and local promoter Laurie Goodson for having the foresight to bring new tournaments to Christchurch.
