A new initiative by Canterbury Golf and New Zealand Golf has attracted kids from around Canterbury to get involved with TEAM Golf. The events have provided an opportunity for kids to gain experience with a shortened six hole team event with the support of family members as caddies for the young budding golfers. Kids aged 4-14 years have teamed up and enjoyed the opportunity to make new friends in a fun and relaxed environments. The "It's Ok" rules provide a relaxed feel to the event where it's all about making golf achievable and enjoyable for all the kids involved. The events have been supported by the golf clubs which has seen Weedons, Tai Tapu, Lincoln and Greendale hosting events on Sunday afternoons.
"To provide a fun environment on the golf course for kids of this ability is key" said Canterbury Golf Development Manager Rachel Thow. "The team environment adds to the enjoyment with plenty of clapping and support from fellow team mates and family members also playing their part in the event as caddies".
Canterbury Golf and New Zealand Golf want to continue to grow the TEAM Golf and also include a family event creating fun for the whole family to participate in.
