It is with pleasure that we announce the addition of Blair Minton to the team at Canterbury Golf.
Blair will be taking up the role of Golf Development Manager vacated by Rachel Thow.
Blair is an outstanding sport management professional who comes to us from New Zealand Football where he worked for five years as a Player Welfare Officer. Prior to this he was Upper South Regional Manager for Gymnastics New Zealand for three years. These roles were on the back of being top graduate student for three years in a row while he completed his Bachelor of Sport & Recreation Management Degree at Lincoln University.
Blair would describe himself as a keen casual golfer with a good base knowledge of the game. It is his experience in providing coaching, development, and high performance programmes that will stand him in good stead for the role, along with his excellent communication and relationship management skills.
The role includes the following areas of work:
- Golf in schools
- Junior golf
- Elite athlete development and representative programmes
- Canterbury regional tournaments and events
- Coach development
- Strategy development in the above areas
- Some marketing and communication work, particularly in the above areas
The position will be responsible for supervising the Participation Coordinator, and contract staff in the Golf in Schools and Futures Canterbury programmes.
Blair will start work on Monday 28 June. We trust you will make him feel welcome when you meet, and help integrate him as a valued part of the golf community that we work and play in.
