At this month's Talent Development Programme session, we were joined by Jenny Tilson and Hyeza Kim of the Canterbury Golf Referees Association (CGRA) for a session with a slightly different focus. As part of the TDP programmes purpose which is to holistically develop these young players to realise their potential as golfers and as people, this year we have delivered some rules-based sessions to not only assist the players with their own game understanding but to better equip them for the various club and competition environments they play within.
Back in September Rosemary Parker and Kevin Gwatkin of the CGRA presented to the group regarding some of the recent rules changes and misunderstood rules which was followed by a practical session on the course to further explain some of these. On Saturday the group was then able to complete a formal Level 1 Rules test, which pleasingly the vast majority of the players were able to attain the required pass marks, with some players scoring as high as 92%.
Our thanks go to the Canterbury Golf Referees Association for taking the time to present who were equally happy to have a large number of young newly-qualified golfers.
