As part of our preparations for the upcoming 2021 NZ Women’s Interprovincial tournament the regular Canterbury vs Wellington fixture was played at Timaru Golf course over the weekend.
Unfortunately, with the terrible rainfall experienced in Timaru on the Saturday, as both teams arrived on course the obvious decision was unfortunately made to abandon the first round of play. Luck was on our side on the Sunday however with the day dawning without rain and the course recovering enough for play to progress. A competitive match was played out with both teams getting valuable playing time on the course ahead of December. There were fantastic performances from both sides with Wellington’s number 1 Darae Chung shooting a 3 under round to win her match-up vs Maddie May 4/3. Meanwhile, Canterbury’s Catherine Bell also shot a great 2 under round to win her match up 5/4 followed by Rachel Eder also shooting a par round to win by the same margin, 5/4. With 3 wins apiece the honors were shared in what was a good outing for both teams.
