The Canterbury Central Patterson Cup interclub Final was played at Ellesmere yesterday in fine, sunny conditions with the course and greens in particular in great order.
The Final was between the two top teams in the Patterson Cup North Zone, hosts Ellesmere against Tai Tapu. Ellesmere had taken the honours in their round robin fixture however Tai Tapu were in no mood for a repeat and their team of Derek Watson, Jason Blair, Jeffrey Cairns, Rod Frewen, Scott Ward and Sean Spencer defeated the home team 8-1.
Tai Tapu players Jason Blair and Sean Spencer shared the Keith Vogan Trophy for best individual performance, both players remaining unbeaten throughout the five rounds.
