Round 7 of Pollock Cup was played at Waimairi Beach on Sunday in sunny, warm conditions and the course in great order.
With Semi-Final positions up for grabs and several players in contention for the coveted Merle Barley Salver, it was always going to be an exciting morning of golf.
In the first match of the day Avondale and Harewood were both desperate for points and Harewood proved the stronger winning 4.5-1.5. For Harewood wins to Lynda Brown, Kirsty O'Neill, Kathryn Maloney, Debbie Scott and Sally Rossiter halving at the top of the order with Nicole Hamilton-Cross sealed the win. Avondale's lone win came from Sharon Worrall.
Clearwater made sure of their Semi-Final spot with a convincing 5-1 win over Russley with wins to Rachel Eder, Jo Kent, Virginia Faass, Lexi-Thomson-Hall and Lynda Vieceli winning in style 7/6. Eva Yin was Russley's shining light.
Christchurch looking to maintain their position at the top-of-the-table did so in style, with comfortable wins to Ina Lee-Hall, June Edwards and Catherine Bell (pictured with Canterbury Golf Women's Chair Debbie Scott) defeating Kim Moggach at No.1, to win the Merle Barley Salver for the most wins over the competition, remaining unbeaten with 5 wins and a half from her 6 matches. Mel Brew halved with Chris Marple as did Jennifer Cho and Nicky Muir while Ginny Bolderston won her match comfortably for Waitikiri.
The Semi-Finals to be played on 6 November, at a neutral venue to be confirmed, will be Christchurch vs Waimairi Beach and Clearwater vs Waitikiri.
