A top field of Canterbury amateurs will turn out for the Golf Warehouse Canterbury 4BBB Championship being held at Pegasus Golf Club this Sunday 20 June.
Demand to play in the Men's Championship has been strong with a full field.
The title will be hotly contested with a high-quality field. There are ten pairings with a combined "plus" handicap. Leading the field are the pairing of Kazuma Kobori and Hayato Miya on a combined +7.1. With a partial home course advantage they will be hard to beat. They are closely followed by the pairings of Mike Toeke & Andrew Green, Reid Hilton & Peter Brinsdon, Jake Roberts & Ben Baker, and Zach May & Dominic Brettkelly. The top Masters pairing of Andrew Dufton & Jason Sincock may also have something to say about the final outcome.
The women's field is lead by Catherine Bell & Olive Tapu. Of the seven other pairings most opposition will come from the pairings of Amy Weng & Deanna Matthews, and Maddie May & Jasmine Clancy.
Prizes will be awarded in men's and women's gross and net divisions.
This Sunday will be a celebration of top amateur golf in Canterbury bringing together the cream of the crop for an 18 hole shoot-out that could see some spectacular scoring. Aside from the golf, the social opportunity of bringing our best players together should not be overlooked, as we look to restart top flight golf in Canterbury for the remainder of 2021 and into the Summer through 2022.
The long range forecast for the next few days is not good including heavy rain on Sunday. A call on the tournament will be made on Saturday afternoon after assessment of conditions following anticipated rain from Thursday onwards, and the prospect of playing conditions on the Sunday.
