On a superb winter's day on an equally good Bottle Lake golf course the 2018 Riccarton Park Golf Complex 4BBB Championship was held today.
Many found the damp and sometimes blustery norwest conditions difficult, but those that combined well in the 4BBB format did score well.
The men's championship was won by the Waitikiri pairing of Brett Turner and Steve Bell with a fine 63. They pipped Hiroki Miya and Josh Roche by a shot (64), with a further shot back to Tom Wilson and Dominic Brettkelly who had 65. Dominic had the best individual round of the day with a three under 67, followed by Brett Turner's 68.
The women's championship was won by the favoured pairing of Juliana Hung and Amy Weng who had 72, from Kim Moggach & Naomi Wallace (74) on a countback from Maddie May & Hillary O'Connor.
The women's net was won by the young pairing of Yoyo Fu and Deanna Matthews with 66. Men's Div 1 Net was won by Daniel Hobbs & Anton Fouchee with 62, and the Div 2 Net by Blair Franklin and Craig McMillan with 63.
It was a fine day of winter golf, and despite midweek concerns, the Bottle Lake course played very well, with particularly good feedback from players about the condition of the greens.
Thanks must go to the Bottle Lake Golf Club and its staff and members, and our sponsor John Pitman and his team at Riccarton Park Golf Complex.
