The Annual Richards Trophy and Cresswell Cup matches were played at Waitikiri yesterday in warm, calm conditions and the course in excellent order.
The Richards Trophy match was between Waimairi Beach (Winner of Metropolitan A) and Amberley Gold (Winner of Templeton Cup) with the Waimairi Beach team of, from left Edwin Rea, Carl van Rees, Chris Anngow, Dominic Robinson, Craig Allsop, Ron Marshall, Craig Prior and Stefan Rea defeating Amberley's Roger Hornblow, Steve Hartley, Steve Thomas, Jason Murray, Robert Clifton, Karl Rattray, Roger Hackand Bruce Yates 5-3 at the end of some tight matches.
The Cresswell Cup between McLeans Island (Winner of Metropolitan B) and Weedons Red (Winner of Patterson Cup) also had it's share of closely fought matches before Weedon's, from left Dave Stubbs, Mike Prendergast, Dave Butts, David White, Richard Poulsen, Mike Methven, Glenn Hames and Terry Sullivan made it back-to-back Cresswell Cup wins defeating McLeans Island's Warren Davis, Bevan Harden, Kurt Sorenson, Mark Smaill, Alan Smythe, Nigel Roberts, Andrew Newman and Anthony Hose 5.5-2.5.
