The Simon Cup Semi-Finals were played at Russley on Sunday with top qualifiers Avondale meeting Bottle Lake and Harewood and Waitikiri matching up to see who would progress to the Final next week.
Both matches were very tight affairs with Avondale sneaking through to beat Bottle Lake 4.5-3.5 by an infringement on the last stroke of the final match, while the other game was even closer with both teams locked up at 4-4 at the end of 18 holes. Waitikiri edged out Harewood with Paul McEwan defeating Ryan Barham on the second “sudden death” playoff hole.
