The Woodward Cup Promotion / Relegation match between the highest placed Blank Cup club without a team in Woodward Cup and the team that finished last in Woodward Cup this year faced-off at Pegasus Golf Club on Sunday.
In warm, windy conditions and the course in great order the stakes were high for the winner, with Waimairi Beach and Weedons competing for the opportunity to play in the 2022 Woodward Cup Interclub competition.
It was always going to be a tight match and so it played out with four matches going to the last hole and another two finishing at the penultimate hole before Weedons defeated Waimairi Beach 5-3.
Austin Hamilton halved with Fraser Mearns, Hayden Clinton lost to Jordan Bakermans 4/3, Jonathan Stieller beat Marcel Boet 3/2, Brydent Grant halved with Ash Watts, Bradley Nightingale beat Lachie Mackay 1 up, Alex van Schaardenburg beat Ben Williamson 2/1, Peter Fox lost to Ollie Partridge 2/1 and Devon Nightingale beat Taylor Reid 1 up.
