Pollock Cup - Rounds 2 & 4 at Christchurch

The weather turned a cold southerly and rain showers for the second of the two rounds at Christchurch on Sunday. Round 2 in the morning was a catch-up from an earlier postponed round with Pegasus defeating Waitikiri 4-2. Amy Weng, Deanna Matthews, Sally Rossiter and Lyn Robertson had wins for Pegasus while Waitikiri's wins came courtesy of Jenny Clarke and Helen Smith. In the other morning match Christchurch defeated Clearwater 4-2 with Maddie May again showing her excellent form with a 6/5 win over Catherine Bell, while Catherine Knight and and Nicola Webb halved together with Mel Brew and Lynda Vieceli. Boyle Cup

Boyle Cup Charteris Bay Sept 2021.jpg LR The fourth Boyle Cup challenge for 2021 was played at the home course of the current Boyle Cup holders, Charteris Bay yesterday in sunny, fine conditions and the course looking a picture. The home team of, from left Denise Whitbread, Julie Sims, Alice Lewis, Carole Steele and Chris Brodie holding the trophy, have defeated Christchurch and Everglades 3-2 earlier in the year, and been dominant in the past two defences beating both Rangiora and Coringa 5-0. Canterbury North Womens Interclub Winners 2021 Scargill LR The Final round of Canterbury North Women's Interclub was played at Amberley yesterday in fine conditions and the course in great order. With the host club Amberley on top of the table but having the bye, Scargill sitting in second place had everything to play for against Hanmer Springs and delivered the result they desperately wanted, winning 3.5-.5 to win the 2021 competition. Other results on the day saw Amuri defeat Culverden 2.5-1.5 and Hawarden and Cheviot drawing 2-2. Pollock Cup - Round 3

A mild day at Waitikiri yesterday set the scene for Pollock Cup round 3 with some good golf and two teams produced convincing results. With a strong team led by wins from Catherine Bell, Olive Tapu and Monica Tulisi all on plus handcaps, Christchurch had a clean sweep 6-0 win over Russley. Olive's round included an Eagle 3 at the par 5 second hole. Monica's appearance was her first interclub match following recent return to amateur status and she did not disappoint with a 3 over par win at the 13th hole. Woodward Cup - Rounds 4 & 5

Fine conditions greeted Woodward Cup players at Bottle Lake yesterday for their first of four double rounds of the competition.  In Round 4 Waitikiri drew 4-4 with Weedons in tight matches. For Waitikiri Kris O'Neill, Brett Turner, Simon Marshall and Woobong Kim had wins while Devon Nightingale, Hayden Clinton, Jonathan Stieller and Brad Nightingale registered wins for Weedons.Avondale were firing on all cylinders in their match against Christchurch winning 7.5-.5. Cosmo Graham halved his match with Richard Sinclair while Dean Harvey, Sam Purdon, Nathan Andrews, Hayden Burns, Teariki Tangiiti, Nick Brennan and Dan Moriarty had wins for Avondale.Pegasus continued their winning...
